How much is this 1950's Hennessy From France Worth?

My grandparents went to France in the early 1950's and got a Bottle of Hennessy. This was from the prohibition times and on the bottle it clearly states not for sale. The bottle is green, VSOP Reserve Cognac. Looking for todays value of this bottle, its over 50 yrs old so it should be high. It was made to be sent to the Virgin Islands.|||That depends on the bottle size, the exact type of brandy in it, the condition of the label etc etc

There is a 1950 bottle (4/5 us quart) of Hennessy Bras D'Or on eBay for $450

Whereas a normal VSOP from the same period would probably fetch $50|||yeah the prohibition times was from 1929 to 1933, so as cognac doesn't age in the bottle it's worth fucko, or as much as a vsop on the market now, sorry, and sorry for swearing, that got me 2 thumbs down, but really you don't have a find ,and your facts aren't straight, the green label might be worth something to collectors, but it's still vsop. as they have master blenders to keep the taste consistent, it would be interesting to see the difference in the 1950's taste to the 2009 taste and see if it's changed. but the value has not. read a book ,liquor does not age in the bottle, it just changes blenders over time!!!!|||It's probably got as much sentimental value as collector value, but you never know. I'd check with Hennessy (I think they're part of LVMH group with Louis Vuitton now). They may not be able to give you an estimate, but they might be able to refer you to a somebody who can.

There are changes that occur in spirits after bottling, after 50 years, it has definitely "aged" some in the bottle. I had a bottle of Jim Beam that was bottled 30 years prior to my drinking it - it was incredible. So much better than the same product today. To the point that I would pay double or triple for a 30 year old bottle if I had a choice.|||To be on the safe side you could try also inquiring on the Price Check forum of RarityGuide.com

Many wine collectors hang out there and someonne might have an idea how much that bottle is worth.

Hope this helps, good luck.
